Chaitanya Tamhane weaves a tale of injustice in his debut film, Court, which follows the trial of a folk singer accused of assisting a suicide. In his comments to FilmLinc, Tamhane talks about creating a new kind of courtroom drama and filming up to 60 takes per scene. Court screens in New Directors/New Films, which continues through Sunday.
Actor/writer/director Benjamin Crotty makes his feature directorial debut with Fort Buchanan, a tragicomic portrait of a man stranded at a remote military post while his husband carries out a mission in Djibouti. The film screens on Wednesday, March 25 and Sunday, March 29 at the 44th New Directors/New Films, which continues through March 29.
